A cold February working party

Today’s working party was mostly based indoors due to the cold! The main job was to attach the worm onto the fan shaft so that it can be connected to the upright shaft. The fan stocks will then fit onto this fan shaft and the fan blades will fit onto the stocks. The fan blades are all made up and oiled and just need painting. The second set of sails are about 25% done, one of the main remaining jobs will be to splice in a new end section for one of the sail whips which broken right off.
- Trying to get the newly cast worm to run true on the fan shaft
- Paul adjusting the wedges to make the worm run true
- The fan shaft showing where the fan stocks will be bolted into position
- The second plate has a big crack, but should hold well enough when everything is bolted together
- The vertical shaft: currently horizontal!
- William with the new fan blades.
- Each fan blade has been oiled and is ready for painting.
- The end of this whip has broken right off so we’ll have to scarf in a new piece.
